This week was all about getting ready for Korea. The departure is getting close, so I spent most of my time on logistics: last-minute shopping, a doctor visit to stock up on meds for the trip, the usual pre-travel stuff. Not much room for personal projects, honestly. On the work side, with less than two weeks to go, I’ve been pushing hard to close out what I can. Still in the thick of it, but at least I have a realistic plan now.

Next week will probably be the same, if not worse. On top of the trip prep, I also need to wrap up a bunch of work activities I can’t really get into here, and those are going to eat up most of my time.

So yeah, thin week on the content side. But I did manage to squeeze in one thing:

  • 🍿 The Killer (2024) — watched John Woo’s remake of his own 1989 classic. Not great, not bad. Woo was a cult director of my youth when it came to action cinema, so I went in with a bit of nostalgia. Nathalie Emmanuel plays an assassin who defies her handler to protect a young woman she accidentally blinded during a job. If you’re into Woo’s signature slow-motion shootouts and over-the-top gunplay, you’ll find traces of that here, just toned down for a modern audience. Nothing that really peaks, but watchable enough for a quiet evening.

That’s it for this week. Next one’s going to be hectic, so we’ll see what makes it into the recap.
