The first half of the year will be a period dedicated to travel, both short and long trips:
- In March I will start the season with a weekend in Rome (hotel and train already booked) to celebrate a good friend’s birthday.
- Then in April I’ll go to Monte Carlo (hotel already booked, I’ll drive there) to watch the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament;
- The last week of April and the first week of May I’ll take a trip to South Korea (flight already booked);
- In mid-May I’ll go for a long weekend to Algiers (hotel and flight already booked);
- Finally, still to be confirmed, in June I’ll go to Seattle for work.
So this week I mainly worked on flight and hotel bookings. Next week I’ll need to focus on booking hotels, domestic trains, and tours for Korea instead.
Everything, obviously, alongside my work activities and my private life. All in all, not bad.
Furthermore, for traveling, I plan to make some important purchases: a new carry-on backpack, a watch to replace the Apple Watch I haven’t used in months, and definitely a pair of headphones to replace my AirPods, which I’ve never been completely happy with.
Tv/Tv series/Movies
The Goodfellas – This week I decided to start re-watching famous, critically acclaimed films that I haven’t seen in years (or in some cases have never seen). I decided to start with Goodfellas and… what can I say… an amazing film. I don’t have the film expertise to give an informed critical judgment, but it’s definitely a movie that nails you to the couch, with incredible writing, top-notch actors, and unparalleled direction and cinematography.
Read(ing)
How to know a person (David Brooks) – Like last week, I’ve been making progress with this book but not at the speed I would have liked. I need to try to finish it as soon as possible so I can get started right away on a couple of books on Korea to prepare my next trip.
Study
Personal projects
This week I wrote two blog posts on how to Avoid context switching while working with your Mac. It’s a simple post but I think it might interest those who, like me, are productivity enthusiasts.
Actually, I’ve written another one that will be coming out soon, but I’m still missing the conclusion section and I’m running behind.
I completely redesigned my Obsidian homepage and now I have to say it’s much more useful and practical, allowing me to keep the most important notes at my fingertips. Still on the topic of Obsidian, I’ve also been consistently using the Daily Notes system, not so much to keep a diary of what I’m doing, but to save all that information that doesn’t warrant having a dedicated note in one place. I’m not fully satisfied yet though. As soon as I find a system that convinces me 100%, I’ll write about it.
