There are some things I hadn’t considered when I started writing this blog: I certainly expected not to be able to write about everything, especially for privacy reasons, but I hadn’t realized how much my work would consume me and I didn’t expect there to be so many great topics I wouldn’t be able to write about.

While on one hand it’s frustrating (I’d love to be able to write about a lot of the interesting things I do), on the other hand it’s also a positive sign: it means I enjoy the work I’m doing and I’m doing a lot of interesting things!

But let’s get to it: fairly quiet week, I watched more TV series and movies (I even managed to go to the movies) and worked on a couple of personal projects. I’d say that compared to the previous week I managed to do more interesting things – I need to turn this into a trend.

Tv/Tv series/Movies

Chernobyl – I rewatched this TV series, which I enjoyed just as much as the first time I saw it. It’s a mix of political intrigue, history, and science. What happened and how it happened is incredible. I was actually 10 years old when the events took place, and I remember perfectly the state of anxiety, the newspaper stories, the advice not to go out of the house too much (and I lived in Italy, thousands of kilometers away…)

Il falsario – Perhaps always drawn to nostalgia and “complicated” stories, I definitely recommend this film. I’m not sure if it’s also distributed in English though. It’s about a forger, the Roman underworld, the connections with politics and Italian history (the kidnapping and murder of Aldo Moro). I liked it a lot.

Le cose non dette – After months from the last time I’ve been to a cinema theatre, I took the opportunity of a friend’s invitation to see this film. I’m not a fan of Gabriele Muccino‘s movies – I often find them very rhetorical and too intimate. But in the end, it’s a good film, with a caricatured twist of certain characters and a noir ending. Recommended.

Read(ing)

How to know a person (David Brooks) – I’m still reading the book, I’m about 1/4 of the way through. Unfortunately, I’m not making progress at the pace I’d like and I’ve only read 3 days out of 7. Reading is a pleasure, of course, but I also need to set myself a rhythm otherwise I risk reading too little and in too fragmented a way.

Study

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to study anything interesting this week either. However, for next week I have some work-related services on my list to dive deeper into, and I think I’ll definitely talk about them here.

Personal projects

Stop Adapting to Your Tools. Make Your To-Do List Work for You – I’ve been able to publish this post. I’m not completely satisfied with it, but it’s the first in a series about how I organize myself, that I really care about. This week I’ll also write about it on Reddit – I definitely want to get feedback from the community, both as encouragement to improve and as general feedback on my task management system.

(Double) Christmas break – I also posted a post with some photos from my Christmas vacation. Yes, I know it’s been almost a month, but I couldn’t finish it earlier, mainly due to laziness.

I also managed to set up the actions associated with the action button on my iPhone: I’m writing a blog post about this topic and the associated Shortcuts, and I think and hope to get it published this week.

Around the Web

Amazon Quick Suite – This week just one link, Amazon Quick Suite’s official channel. I discovered it because I needed some videos for a demo, it’s very well made and constantly updated.
